The Taiwanese government announced on Monday that it has added advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment to its official export control list. The update includes 18 items, such as high-end 3D printers and quantum computers, in a move that aligns with international regulations and the policies of allied nations. The new rule will require Taiwanese companies, including major players like TSMC, to obtain a permit before exporting these controlled items. A government official stated that the move was not aimed at any "specific country," though it comes as the United States has been tightening restrictions on the sale of advanced chip technology to China over security concerns. The updated control list, aimed at preventing goods from being used in military-proliferation activities, will take effect after a 60-day notice period.
