Uber named Philip Martin as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He will lead Uber's global cybersecurity and enterprise security, protecting its digital infrastructure and user safety. The CISO role at Uber has faced public scrutiny. A former executive was convicted in 2022 for mishandling a 2016 data breach.
Martin joins Uber from Coinbase. He served as Chief Security Officer at Coinbase since 2016. There, he managed a team of over 250 people. His experience includes leadership roles at Palantir Technologies and Amazon. He also spent a decade as a U.S. Army counterintelligence agent. Martin stated the unique responsibility of securing a platform that moves people through the physical world.
