Uber and Lucid Motors are doubling their autonomous vehicle partnership to deploy up to 40,000 robotaxis. The expanded agreement includes Nuro and centers on Lucid’s upcoming midsize electric vehicle platform.

Lucid is developing this new platform to deliver high performance at a reduced production cost. The initiative supports Uber’s capital-light strategy of leveraging its ride-sharing network while partners provide the necessary hardware and software.

The expansion was highlighted at Lucid’s recent investor day as a core strategic move for both companies. The 40,000-vehicle target represents a 100% increase over the program's original scope.
