The Coca-Cola system is investing R17.6 billion to enhance South Africa’s beverage supply chain. This capital injection equals approximately $1 billion in US currency. The funds will expand local production capacity and strengthen distribution networks.
Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBA), and Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages are partnering for this initiative. Luis Felipe Avellar, President of Coca-Cola’s Africa Operating Unit, stated the strategy focuses on local hiring and sourcing.
The investment follows the planned 2025 sale of CCBA to Coca-Cola HBC. This transaction aligns with the company’s global refranchising strategy.
