NVIDIA and SB Energy have secured land and power in Pike County, Ohio, to develop a massive AI data center campus. OpenAI will serve as the primary tenant, leasing the facility for 20 years to host its compute infrastructure. SB Energy will build, own, and operate the site.
The initial phase supports 4.25 GW of IT capacity. Future expansion plans target a total capacity of 8 GW. NVIDIA is making a direct $1.5 billion investment into SB Energy and providing credit support for the initial construction.
The partnership aims to create an AI factory utilizing NVIDIA’s full-stack platform. This project represents one of the largest data center developments to date. The move signals a strategic shift for NVIDIA as it secures the foundational power required for next-generation AI models.
The development will create thousands of jobs in the region. The agreement also establishes a significant community benefits fund.
