Federal prosecutors charged three men linked to Super Micro Computer Inc., including co-founder Yih-Shyan Liaw. The indictment alleges a scheme to illegally export $2.5 billion of U.S. artificial intelligence technology to China.
The group allegedly used fake documents, shell companies, and staged dummy servers to conceal the destination of sensitive hardware. These shipments included high-end servers powered by cutting-edge Nvidia chips.
Super Micro (SMCI) is not named as a defendant and is cooperating with federal investigators. The company placed the two indicted employees on administrative leave. Super Micro shares fell sharply following the announcement.
