Boeing secured a potential $2 billion contract from the U.S. Air Force for the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) service life extension program. This second-phase award focuses on modernizing narrowband satellite communications for military operations.

The company will design, develop, and produce two MUOS satellites at its El Segundo, California facility. The contract scope includes launch support and on-orbit testing activities through September 2035.

The Air Force is obligating an initial $204 million for the project. These funds originate from the 2026 research, development, test, and evaluation budget.
