GE Aerospace Launches GE 426 Engine, Targeting Mass-Produced Military Drones

GE Aerospace revealed the GE 426 small turbofan engine on May 19, 2026. This new engine family targets the growing collaborative combat aircraft (CCA) market.

Engine variants will produce a thrust range of 4,000 to 9,000 pounds. The design optimizes cost and performance specifically for unmanned military drones.

This launch positions GE as a primary supplier for the U.S. Air Force and other global military powers. The GE 426 supports the industry shift toward mass-produced drone fleets operating alongside crewed aircraft.
