Lockheed Martin and Rheinmetall signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the first European production facility for the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). The companies announced the joint venture at the NATO Summit Defense Industry Forum in Ankara.
The facility will manage the manufacturing, integration, and distribution of missiles to address rising demand across Europe. This partnership combines Lockheed Martin’s technology with Rheinmetall’s manufacturing expertise to create a new center of excellence in Germany.
The U.S. and German governments are supporting the initiative to bolster NATO’s long-term defense industrial capacity. Production of key components is expected to begin as early as 2027.
