Lockheed Martin Australia is the preferred strategic partner for combat system integration on Australia’s future Virginia-class nuclear-powered submarines. This selection is part of the AUKUS security pact between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The company will develop a sovereign submarine combat system capability for the Royal Australian Navy. This partnership serves as a cornerstone of AUKUS Pillar 1 to ensure interoperability between the U.S. and Australian navies.
Work begins immediately to develop the necessary infrastructure, technical skills, and industrial workforce. These resources will support and sustain advanced combat systems throughout the submarine lifecycle.
The decision reinforces Lockheed Martin’s long-term role in the strategic balance of the Indo-Pacific.
