The U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) awarded Raytheon, an RTX business, an $8.4 billion ceiling increase for its Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) program. This modification brings the total potential value of the contract to over $11.7 billion.

The agreement funds sustaining engineering and product support for various SM-3 interceptor models. These systems are designed to defend against ballistic missile threats.

Operations will be conducted in Tucson, Arizona, and Huntsville, Alabama, through October 2029. Raytheon recently expanded its integration facility in Huntsville to support MDA development.

The contract also covers support for Foreign Military Sales to U.S. allies. The expansion reflects growing demand for advanced missile defense systems due to heightened geopolitical tensions.
