Collins Aerospace, an RTX subsidiary, is investing $26.5 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Largo, Florida. This expansion will accelerate production of advanced commercial aviation radars and multi-domain military security solutions. The project is expected to create more than 100 high-skilled engineering and factory jobs.
Nate Boelkins, president of Avionics at Collins Aerospace, stated the expansion addresses increasingly congested and contested global airspace. The Largo site supports the Federal Aviation Administration’s Radar System Replacement program. It also produces secure communications components for military applications.
Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly noted the move strengthens the Tampa Bay defense cluster. RTX currently employs more than 7,000 people across Florida. This investment reflects a broader trend of prioritizing domestic production for critical aerospace technologies.
