The U.S. Treasury Department officially launched the Trump Accounts program on July 4, 2026. This tax-advantaged savings vehicle was established under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Eligibility extends to children born between January 2025 and December 2028. The federal government will seed each account with a $1,000 initial contribution.

Contributions will track major Wall Street indices to facilitate long-term growth. State Street currently manages the initial default S&P 500 index fund. The Treasury plans to add investment options from BlackRock and Vanguard at a later date.

Bank of New York Mellon provides the administrative infrastructure for the program. Robinhood developed a dedicated mobile application to manage the accounts.

This initiative directs significant long-term capital flows into the equity markets. The program is expected to impact the asset management and financial services sectors through its scale and institutional partnerships.
