ExxonMobil has applied for environmental authorization to launch a 35-well exploration and appraisal campaign in Guyana’s Stabroek block. The proposed drilling program is scheduled to run from 2028 through 2033. This five-year strategy aims to further develop the region’s significant oil reserves.

Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has opened a 28-day public consultation on the proposal. The agency ruled that a standalone Environmental Impact Assessment is not required for this project. However, ExxonMobil must submit a cumulative impact assessment to evaluate the campaign alongside other ongoing operations in the block.
