Apple has settled a three-year antitrust case with Brazil's regulator, CADE. The company agreed to permit alternative app stores and third-party payment options on its iOS operating system.
Apple must implement these changes within 105 days. The terms will remain in effect for three years once they become mandatory for developers.
This concession mirrors changes enforced in the European Union. The settlement also ends a legal challenge Apple had filed against the regulator.
Apple faces a fine of up to 150 million reais (approximately $27 million) if it fails to adhere to the agreement. While complying, the company stated that opening its ecosystem could introduce new privacy and security risks for users.
