Apple has released an emergency security update to address a critical zero-day vulnerability in its ImageIO framework. The flaw could allow attackers to gain control of a device by having a user open a malicious image, potentially leading to memory corruption and arbitrary code execution. The company stated that this vulnerability may have already been exploited in the wild. The urgent patch is included in iOS 18.1.1, iPadOS 18.1.1, and macOS 15.1.1. Affected devices include iPhone XS and later, all iPad Pro models, recent iPad Air and standard iPad models, and Macs running macOS Monterey, Ventura, and Sonoma. Cybersecurity experts are advising all users to install the updates immediately to protect themselves from the ongoing threat.
