Apple regained the top spot in the Chinese smartphone market during the holiday quarter. Shipments of the iPhone jumped 28%, driven primarily by the success of the iPhone 17 generation. This performance gave Apple a 20% market share for the quarter, according to Counterpoint Research.
This achievement occurred despite a challenging environment. The overall smartphone market in China declined by 1.6% during the same period. Competitors, including Huawei and Xiaomi, saw double-digit percentage drops in shipments.
For the full calendar year, Appleās shipments grew 7.5%. This placed the company just behind Huawei, securing roughly 17% market share for the year.
US stock markets were closed for a holiday, meaning no immediate market reaction was recorded.
