Apple is significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint in India, with plans to double the production of AirPods at Foxconn's Hyderabad facility. This move is a core part of Apple's ongoing strategy to diversify its supply chain beyond China, thereby mitigating geopolitical and logistical risks. The expansion will reportedly involve transferring advanced manufacturing machinery from Vietnam to India to support the increased output. The increased production will be substantial, with Foxconn's facility expected to boost its monthly output of AirPods within the next six to eight months. To accommodate this growth, the workforce at the Hyderabad plant is also projected to more than double. This expansion underscores India's growing importance as a strategic manufacturing hub for Apple's products, which extends beyond iPhones to now include a significant portion of its popular audio accessories.
