Apple today announced its new M5 chip, a significant upgrade focused on accelerating artificial intelligence performance. The M5 is featured in a new 14-inch MacBook Pro, an updated iPad Pro, and a refreshed Vision Pro headset. Built on a third-generation 3-nanometer process, the M5 chip includes a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, which Apple claims delivers up to 3.5 times faster AI performance than the M4 chip. The new 14-inch MacBook Pro, starting at $1,599, boasts up to 24 hours of battery life and a brighter display. The new iPad Pro, starting at $999, is the thinnest yet and features the M5's desktop-class AI capabilities. The upgraded Vision Pro also incorporates the M5 chip and a more comfortable Dual Knit Band. All new devices are available for pre-order today, with availability beginning October 22. In other news, Apple also announced an expansion of its renewable energy projects across Europe and CEO Tim Cook pledged to increase investment in China during a visit to the country.
