India’s competition regulator issued a final warning to Apple, confirming it will proceed with an antitrust case against the tech giant. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) found Apple abused its dominant position by forcing app developers to use its proprietary payment system on the App Store.
The CCI accused Apple of undermining the investigation, claiming the company delayed responses for over a year. The regulator has now given Apple a final opportunity to respond before it proceeds with the case unilaterally.
Apple faces a potentially massive penalty, expressing fears the fine could reach $38 billion if calculated based on its global turnover. While Apple legally challenged the penalty rules, the CCI rejected its separate request to pause the entire antitrust case.
