Airbus secured a landmark €3 billion financing package from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This agreement marks the largest corporate financing deal in the history of the EU’s lending arm. Parties signed an initial €1 billion tranche on June 29, 2026.
The funding supports research and development projects across France, Germany, and Spain through 2030. Investments target advanced commercial aviation technologies, specifically focusing on decarbonization. The package also finances the enhancement of security and defense systems.
EIB President Nadia Calviño noted the deal reinforces European technological autonomy amid rising geopolitical competition.
