Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) is reportedly in discussions with Samsung Foundry. AMD seeks to manufacture its next-generation chips using Samsung’s 2nm process node. The talks focus on future CPUs, specifically the EPYC server processors codenamed "Venice."

This strategic effort aims to diversify AMD’s manufacturing partners. The move mitigates risks associated with the company’s current reliance on its primary partner, TSMC.

Securing AMD as a customer would mark a major victory for Samsung against foundry market leader TSMC. Samsung is offering its second-generation 2nm process (SF2P).

Trial production of the AMD chips could begin soon. An agreement could be finalized as early as January 2026.
