AMD, in partnership with Eviden, announced it will provide the technology for France's first exascale supercomputer, named Alice Recoque. The system is Europe's second exascale computer and is part of a broader European push to close the technology gap with the U.S. in AI and high-performance computing. The total cost of the project is estimated at 554 million euros ($642.5 million) over five years. The supercomputer will be powered by next-generation AMD EPYC "Venice" CPUs and Instinct MI430X GPUs. This announcement underscores AMD's continued momentum in the data center and AI sectors, securing a key role in building Europe's sovereign AI capabilities. The system is designed to be energy-efficient, utilizing Eviden's direct liquid cooling technology.
