Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) entered the "AI PC" market at CES 2026. The company unveiled its new "Gorgon Point" processors, officially branded as the Ryzen AI 400 series.
The chips pivot AMD toward on-device artificial intelligence, handling complex generative AI tasks locally without cloud reliance. This move places AMD in direct competition with rival Intel, which also revealed AI-focused chips at the event.
Research firm Gartner projects the AI-capable PC market will represent 55% of the total market by the end of 2026.
Separately, industry reports dated January 2, 2026, suggest AMD will implement GPU price increases starting this month. The company attributes the move to rising costs for critical memory components used in graphics card manufacturing.
