Amazon ordered six additional satellite launches from Arianespace on September 10, 2026. This agreement brings Amazon's total launch bookings with the European provider to 24.
The expansion scales the Project Kuiper internet network to compete directly with SpaceX’s Starlink. Amazon aims to capture a share of the global internet market by diversifying its infrastructure beyond retail and cloud computing.
The move also supports the European space sector. It aligns with governmental efforts to strengthen domestic space capabilities.
