A federal court has approved a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) motion to expand the terms of Amazon's 2025 settlement over deceptive Prime enrollment practices. The revised order increases the maximum refund payment for eligible consumers from $51 to $200 and broadens the eligibility criteria to include more customers.
Under the new terms, customers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits within a one-year period now qualify for refunds; previously, only those who used fewer than 10 benefits were eligible. Additionally, all future payments will be distributed automatically, eliminating the need for consumers to file claims.
The original September 2025 settlement required Amazon to pay a $1 billion civil penalty and up to $1.5 billion in consumer redress. The FTC stated that as of September 2026, Amazon had already issued more than $845 million in refunds to consumers under the initial terms.
