BYD raised its 2026 overseas sales forecast to between 1.9 million and 2.0 million vehicles. This updated target increases the previous goal of 1.5 million units set in March.
The company also established a new target to exceed 2.5 million international sales in 2027. Deutsche Bank disclosed the guidance following a post-earnings call with BYD management.
Aggressive export targets aim to offset a significant slowdown in the Chinese domestic market. Overseas sales surged 85.7% year-over-year to over 1.16 million vehicles through August 2026.
Domestic sales fell 32.7% during the first eight months of the year. August exports reached a record 189,466 units. International shipments accounted for 43% of the company's total new energy vehicle volume in August.
