BYD’s share of the European car market reached 3.1% in August, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). This figure more than doubled from the 1.4% share recorded during the same month last year. Vehicle registrations across the European Union, EFTA, and the UK rose 127.9% year-over-year to 26,007 units.

For the first eight months of 2026, BYD registrations in Europe surged 144.1%. This growth increased the company's year-to-date market share to 2.5%, up from 1.1% a year prior. The expansion highlights BYD’s strategy to prioritize overseas sales to offset intensifying competition and slowing growth in its domestic Chinese market.
