The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) reports that Comcast’s acquisition of UK broadcaster ITV is nearing a conclusion. Discussions have reached a significantly more advanced stage than previously disclosed.
The NUJ estimates the deal could finalize as early as the second quarter of 2026. These comments surfaced in a response to a consultation by the UK media regulator, Ofcom.
ITV previously confirmed it was in talks with Comcast, the parent company of Sky. Comcast aims to leverage the acquisition to build a UK-focused streaming service capable of competing with global media and technology giants.
