IndiGo is negotiating a substantial regional aircraft order with Embraer and ATR. CEO Willie Walsh disclosed the discussions at the Skytrax World Airline Awards in London.
The airline plans to overhaul its regional fleet to transform New Delhi into a global aviation hub. This expansion strategy aims to compete directly with dominant Middle Eastern carriers.
The prospective deal follows IndiGo's commitment to receive 60 long-range Airbus A350s. Negotiations are currently in early stages with no signed agreements.
The order could involve either expanding or completely replacing IndiGo’s current ATR turboprop fleet. Securing this contract would mark a major commercial victory for Embraer’s aircraft division.
