Unifor members ratified a new three-year collective agreement with Ford Motor Company of Canada. The deal covers over 5,000 hourly employees. It averts a potential strike. The union announced members approved the deal by a 74% majority. This ensures labor stability for Ford's Canadian facilities.
The contract includes annual wage increases. It provides a C$10,000 ratification bonus. Enhanced benefits are also part of the agreement. Ford will invest C$1.25 billion (US$900 million) across its Canadian manufacturing sites. This includes C$700 million for its Essex Engine Plant. These investments aim to secure production and jobs. They include adding a third shift at the Essex plant.
