Ford Motor Co. publicly denied a Wall Street Journal report claiming the company was in talks with Chinese automaker Geely regarding technology sharing for the U.S. market.
A Ford spokesperson confirmed that no such discussions have occurred or are currently underway with any Chinese automaker for its U.S. operations.
The clarification addresses speculation that Ford might extend its existing European partnership with Geely to North America.
U.S. auto executives view low-cost, high-tech Chinese vehicles as a significant competitive threat to the domestic market.
