Ford Motor Company is in advanced negotiations with Chinese automaker Geely regarding a strategic partnership in Europe. The discussions focus on utilizing Ford’s underutilized production capacity, specifically at its plant in Valencia, Spain.

This arrangement would allow Geely to manufacture vehicles within Europe to circumvent potential European Union tariffs on Chinese imports. The partnership may also involve sharing expertise in electric vehicle and autonomous driving technologies.

This development follows Ford’s recent strategic pivot away from certain all-electric models. Ford recorded a $19.5 billion write-down as it shifts focus toward hybrid and traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.
