Ford Motor Company is investing $2 billion to repurpose its BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, Kentucky. The facility will transition from producing EV batteries to manufacturing energy storage systems. Ford Energy will manage the site and expects to create at least 2,100 full-time jobs.
This decision follows the scheduled 2025 dissolution of Ford’s battery joint venture with SK On. The strategic pivot addresses slowing demand in the electric vehicle market. Ford’s Model e division projects full-year losses between $4 billion and $4.5 billion. The company’s Ford Blue and Ford Pro divisions continue to report strong performance.
