Ford is recalling 741,195 vehicles in the United States due to a transmission defect. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns the flaw increases the risk of crashes and injuries. The issue involves the transmission parking pawl potentially engaging while the vehicle is in motion.

Affected models include 2018-2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs. The recall also covers 2020-2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles. Owners of 2021 Ford F-150 trucks are also included in the notice.

Ford has received 24 claims of property damage related to the defect. The company is aware of nine reports of alleged injuries. Dealers will update powertrain software and replace damaged transmission parts at no cost to owners.

Owner notification letters will be mailed starting August 3, 2026. Ford expects the full remedy to be available by April 2027.
