Ford Motor Company is recalling 272,645 electric and hybrid vehicles. The action addresses a risk that the units may roll away while the transmission is set in 'park'.
The recall covers specific 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning, 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-E, and 2025-2026 Maverick Hybrid models. The issue stems from a component within the transmission that prevents the park gear from fully engaging.
Ford discovered the problem in July 2025. As of late November, the company had received 42 related warranty claims. Ford confirmed that no accidents or injuries have been reported due to the fault.
The company plans to remedy the issue using an over-the-air (OTA) software update. Owners can also have the update installed at dealerships. Official dealer notifications are scheduled to go out on January 26, 2026.
