Ford reported a 14.4% year-over-year decline in April U.S. vehicle sales. Total sales for the month reached 178,667 units.

Electrified vehicle sales drove the downturn with a 31.1% decrease. Pure electric vehicle sales fell 24.8%. Hybrid sales dropped 32.5%.

Truck and SUV sales both recorded declines. F-Series pickup truck sales fell 14.7%.

Car sales rose 18.4%. Ford shares fell 1.7% in early trading following the announcement.
