Over 1,600 workers at the BlueOval SK battery plant in Glendale, Kentucky, face job terminations. The layoffs are scheduled to take effect on February 14, 2026. The facility operates as a joint venture between Ford and SK On.

Management announced the terminations in December. This followed an August vote by employees to unionize with the United Auto Workers (UAW). The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) certified the union despite initial challenges from the company.

Workers delivered a petition to management on February 11. The document contains more than 1,000 signatures. It demands that Ford recognize the UAW and begin negotiations regarding the plant's future.

The UAW has criticized the move as a major labor dispute within Ford’s electric vehicle supply chain.
