US Congress cleared GE Aerospace to export F110 engines for Türkiye’s KAAN fifth-generation fighter jet. The approval followed the failure of a joint resolution to block the sale during a mandatory 15-day review window. Turkish Aerospace’s chief executive confirmed the company secured the necessary export license.
The deal is reportedly valued at $700 million. These engines will support sustained flight testing and initial low-rate production batches for the new aircraft.
Lawmakers previously blocked the sale due to Türkiye’s possession of the Russian S-400 air defense system. This development represents a significant milestone for GE’s defense business and the Turkish aviation industry.
