GE Aerospace will proceed with a $700 million sale of F110 engines to Turkey. The 15-day U.S. congressional review period expired on July 9 without any blocking legislation. Congress received formal notification of the transaction on June 24. A joint resolution introduced by House Democrats to halt the sale failed to advance in either chamber.
Turkey will use the F110 engines for its indigenous TAI KAAN fifth-generation fighter jet. The aircraft completed its maiden flight in February 2024. GE will provide engines for prototypes and initial production models. The agreement includes integration, testing, and technical support services. Turkey continues to develop a domestic engine while utilizing the GE units for the program's initial phases.
