General Motors is suspending its next-generation full-size electric truck and SUV program indefinitely. The decision affects future development for the Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV, GMC Hummer EV, and Cadillac Escalade IQ. These models were previously expected to receive refreshes around 2028.

The company is reportedly responding to slowing demand for electric vehicles across the U.S. market. Suppliers have been notified of the pause, and analysts suggest a launch is now unlikely before 2030.

GM is redirecting its focus toward producing gasoline-powered vehicles to meet current consumer demand. A company spokesperson stated that GM has not disclosed specific plans or timing for next-generation battery-electric trucks.
