General Motors is restructuring its U.S. used vehicle strategy to compete with digital retailers like Carvana. The automaker will phase out traditional certified pre-owned programs for most dealerships in favor of its CarBravo online platform. This transition aims to establish a unified, digital-first sales channel.

The new mandate takes effect in June for Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC dealers. Cadillac will maintain its existing certified pre-owned system.

GM is expanding warranty coverage to include non-GM vehicles and cars up to 15 years old. This overhaul targets rising demand driven by new vehicle affordability challenges. The company expects the change to increase used car volumes across its dealership network.
