General Motors began testing its next-generation autonomous driving technology in live traffic environments. This phase shifts the company from manual data collection to active testing on public roads.
The testing program utilizes an existing dataset from over one million miles driven. GM also incorporated data and staff from its Cruise division after halting robotaxi operations.
GM plans to introduce an eyes-off self-driving system for highway driving. This technology will debut with the 2028 Cadillac Escalade IQ.
