Anthropic signed its first Australian data center lease for a planned 2.16-gigawatt campus. The facility sits approximately 150 miles from Brisbane. Singapore-based Zerra DC will develop the site, which ranks among the world's largest computing hubs.

Operations at the Queensland facility are scheduled to begin in 2027. Anthropic intends to use the capacity for AI inference rather than model training. The deal marks a strategic move to secure power amid a global race for AI infrastructure. Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board must still approve the agreement.
