U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema ordered Google to implement significant changes to its advertising technology business. The ruling requires Google to appoint an internal antitrust compliance monitor for a six-year term.

The court-ordered remedies follow a decision that Google illegally monopolized the online advertising market. These measures stop short of the full business divestiture requested by the Department of Justice.

Google must now make its advertising tools compatible with competitors and end practices that lock publishers into its ecosystem. The court also mandated increased data transparency to restore competition in digital advertising markets.
