Google has appealed two European Commission mandates under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) at the EU’s General Court. The orders require Google to open Android to rival artificial intelligence assistants and share certain search data with competing search engines.

Google argues that complying would jeopardize user privacy and security. It says it would have to share users’ private search histories without sufficient anonymization and that the changes would weaken essential security protections on Android devices.

The European Commission says the measures include robust safeguards to protect user privacy and are necessary to foster competition.
