Starting October 9, 2026, free Gemini users will be limited to the Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite model. They will lose access to the more capable 3.6 Flash and 3.1 Pro models.
AI Plus subscribers will also lose access to the Pro model, but will retain access to Flash-Lite and Flash. AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers will see no reduction in model access.
The change follows compute-based usage changes in May and appears designed to encourage users to upgrade for access to more powerful AI models.
