Honda's Global Production Falls 12.6% as Asia and Japan Slump

Honda Motor Co. said global automobile production fell 12.6% year over year in August 2026. The company produced 233,388 vehicles worldwide that month, its seventh consecutive month of year-over-year decline. Drops in Asia and Japan drove the decrease.

Production outside Japan, which accounts for the majority of Honda's output, fell 8.6% year over year. It totaled 203,192 vehicles, marking an eighth straight month of decline. Production in Asia plunged 43.6%, while output in China fell 71.7%. North American production increased 8.2%.

Domestic production in Japan fell 32.3% year over year, its first decline in nine months. It totaled 30,196 vehicles.
