Meta has launched a new advertising campaign to promote an optimistic view of artificial intelligence, aiming to counter public fears about the technology's impact. The ad features uplifting visuals of human connection and a voiceover declaring the company is "betting on people," a message CEO Mark Zuckerberg echoed in a statement about distributing technology's benefits to everyone.
However, the campaign has drawn immediate criticism for its choice of music: David Bowie’s song "Five Years." The song's lyrics describe humanity's reaction to learning the world will end in five years, creating a stark and ironic contradiction with the ad's hopeful message. The selection has been widely seen as a significant oversight.
