Taiwanese chip-testing company King Yuan Electronics (KYEC), a supplier to NVIDIA, announced on Friday its intention to invest up to $1.4 billion to establish a new facility in the United States. The company stated that the investment is aimed at supporting its operational growth and solidifying its position within the global supply chain. The specific location and a construction timeline for the planned U.S. facility were not disclosed.
This move by KYEC follows a broader trend of Taiwanese semiconductor and electronics firms expanding their manufacturing presence in the U.S. This trend was notably spurred by TSMC's major investment in Arizona. Other NVIDIA partners, such as Foxconn and Wistron, are also in the process of building AI server manufacturing capacity in the United States.
